Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. has accomplished a significant industry milestone with the announcement that its flagship G800 aircraft has received type certification from both the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The clearance from both ends is a notable win for ultra-long-range private jet travel, allowing the G800 to enter service in two of the most lucrative aviation markets in the world.
Designed for both performance and luxury, the Gulfstream G800 is now the longest-range business jet in production, capable of a maximum of 8,200 nautical miles (15,186 kilometres) at Mach 0.85 — an extension from its originally predicted 8,000 nautical-mile range. This essentially makes it appealing for global private jet charters, linking city pairs like Singapore to New York or London to Buenos Aires non-stop.
Demand Made For The Modern Long-Haul Traveller
The G800's high-speed cruise is Mach 0.90 and its top speed is Mach 0.935, which combined with its Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines makes it one of the fastest civilian aircraft available today. With a take-off distance of only 5,812 feet and 3,105 feet required for landing, the aircraft's versatility is reinforced, opening up many more charter business opportunities at more restricted, small and/or regional airports.
